Self-Assembly

Self-Assembly is a natural phenomenon common in many soft matter systems. It occurs when under certain conditions, from a disordered mixture of molecules an ordered structure emerges. As molecules and building blocks of soft matter are rather complex, to predict what structure will be formed is a big challenge of the Physics research on Self-Assembly. Without help of computer simulations it is rather difficult to explore experimentally a vast  parameter space in these systems. Computer simulations can recreate various experimental conditions at the same time and ruin such virtual experiments in parallel.

Example of research

Sevink G. J. A., Zvelindovsky A.V. ”Self-assembly of complex vesicles” Macromolecules 38 (2005) 7502-7513.
